Welcome to Issue #75 of One Minute AI, your daily AI news companion. This issue discusses the latest announcement from Mistral, which closely follows Meta’s Llama 3.1 announcement.
Introducing Mistral Large 2
Mistral AI has announced the release of Mistral Large 2, the latest version of its flagship model, which boasts significant enhancements in code generation, mathematics, and reasoning. With a 128k context window, it supports numerous languages and over 80 coding languages. The model's size of 123 billion parameters allows for single-node inference, making it efficient and cost-effective. Mistral Large 2 excels in multilingual support and is available for research and commercial use under different licenses.
Mistral Large 2 significantly improves on its predecessor, achieving 84.0% accuracy on the MMLU benchmark and rivaling leading models like GPT-4o, Claude 3 Opus, and the recently launched Meta Llama 3.1. It also emphasizes minimizing hallucinations and providing accurate responses. Enhanced function calling and retrieval skills make it suitable for complex business applications. The model is accessible via la Plateforme and major cloud service providers, with expanded fine-tuning capabilities and support for multilingual and coding tasks.
