OpenAI announces GPT-4o
In the OpenAI Spring Update on May 13th, OpenAI CTO Mira Murati announced the launch of a new flagship model, GPT-4o, to ChatGPT.
GPT-4o will offer faster performance and improved text, vision, and audio capabilities. It will be free for all users, with paid users getting up to five times the capacity. The model will roll out iteratively, starting with text and image capabilities in ChatGPT today. The team also confirmed that GPT-4o is multimodal, handling voice, text, and images, and its API is faster and cheaper than GPT-4 Turbo. New features for ChatGPT’s voice mode include real-time interaction and environmental awareness.
